Cornwall is the perfect location for such a crucial summit
– Boris Johnson
Eco-hotel and beachfront spa resort Carbis Bay Estate and Hotel in Cornwall, UK, will host leaders from Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, the UK and the US for the 2021 G7 Summit from 11 – 13 June.

The leaders will gather at the spa hotel this weekend to discuss Covid-19 vaccinations, sustainability goals, tackling climate change and promoting future prosperity.

UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson called Cornwall “the perfect location for such a crucial summit” and said it “will be the nucleus of great global change and advancement".

The 125-acre family-run Carbis Bay estate has recently reopened its doors after a multi-million-pound renovation which saw its C Bay Spa upgraded with a new infinity-edge outdoor swimming pool, hydro pool, a spa bar partnered with premium vodka brand Belvedere, a gym and fitness studio.

The three-treatment-room spa is inspired by natural and holistic healing and also offers guests access to indoor and outdoor pools, an outdoor barrel sauna, hair salon and relaxation lounge.

The spa menu provides treatments by Voya and Aromatherapy Associates, as well as makeup and nail services supplied by Mii Cosmetics and Opi respectively.

The hotel offers a fitting venue for the summit due to both being dedicated to sustainability.

Carbis Bay Estate and Hotel has previously been honoured with sustainability accolades as it operates with numerous green protocols, including:
  • An on-site energy centre – which powers the hotel and spa

  • A commitment to protecting its beachfront location, surroundings and marine life

  • Using recycled and sustainable construction materials such as Kebony wood

  • A ban on all single-use plastic

  • Going paperless wherever possible

  • Installing e recycling points throughout the destination

  • Introducing electric car charge points.

The estate also encourages local beach cleans, marine-learning activities and ocean-going activities while not permitting motorsports off the beach.

Due to the G7 Summit, both the spa and hotel will be closed to the public until 16 June.

Visit Cornwall estimates the summit’s total economic impact for the county will be £50m (€57.9m, US$70.5m), including through an increase in future tourism.
