Hyatt opens two luxury spa hotels as Asia’s spa cravings continue
POSTED 09 Aug 2013 . BY Chris Dodd
The Grand Hyatt Shenyang is the first Hyatt-branded hotel to open in Northeast China.
Two new Hyatt-operated luxury spa hotels have opened in Asia, further illustrating demand in the region for hospitality and wellness.

In Cambodia, the recently opened Park Hyatt Siem Reap, owned by Hotel De La Paix Co Limited, offers 108 contemporary guest rooms and 13 luxury suites – four of which offer private plunge pools.

The hotel was originally known as Hotel De La Paix, but has reopened under the Park Hyatt brand, following an agreement between the two groups, as reported by Spa Opportunities and Spa Business last year.

The development, Hyatt’s first in Cambodia, was designed by Bangkok-based architect Bill Bensley and fuses colours and textures in keeping with Siem Reap’s environment.

The spa, operated by Park Hyatt, covers 242 sq m (2,615 sq ft) and takes inspiration from Zen teachings, offering holistic spa treatments which use exclusive aromatherapy products. The spa has six treatment rooms, a steamroom and a rooftop relaxation space for yoga and foot massages.

To complement the spa, the hotel offers a 24-hour fitness centre with Technogym cv and strength machines, which use VISIOWEB systems to connect to the internet to aid multimedia use. Technogym equipment also claims to scientifically correct posture and alignment.

The hotel’s lap pool is located on the ground floor and is surrounded by lush gardens. On the next floor, the development offers a freeform swimming pool with an infinity edge, wall murals of giant trees and green tiles, which were designed to mimic a Southeast Asian lagoon.

• Meanwhile, in Shenyang, China, Grand Hyatt has opened a new 29-storey development – owned by large conglomerate China Resources – complete with spa and wellness facilities.

The Grand Hyatt Shenyang’s Qing Spa occupies 850 sq m (9,149 sq ft) and houses six private treatment suites that look out across the city. The development also offers an exclusive Chairman Suite, where up to 10 individuals can share a communal space, as well as two spa suites.
