Grandparents and their grandchildren are being invited to reconnect at Zulal Wellness Resort by Chiva-Som with a new dedicated retreat
The experience has launched at Zulal Discovery, the destination’s family-friendly resort area
Activities have been selected to promote connection through learning and enjoyment for all participants, regardless of age
The retreat is available as a two- or three-night programme
Qatari wellness destination Zulal Wellness Resort by Chiva-Som has developed a new retreat to help grandparents and grandchildren spend quality time together.

Zulal launched the offering after noticing a rising ‘Skip-Gen’ trend of grandparents holidaying with their grandchildren which skips the middle generation, the parents.

The experience focuses on enhancing emotional, physical, social and nutritional wellbeing for both grandparents and grandchildren and is the latest family-focused programme to launch at Zulal Discovery (the destination’s family-friendly resort area).

Designed to strengthen family ties and create long-lasting memories, the retreat features rejuvenating activities for grandparents and educational experiences for grandchildren.

The programme
On the first day, the intergenerational group undergoes an initial consultation with a health and wellness advisor to determine the best way that each family member can benefit from the retreat.

The day also includes family wellness activities for the grandparents and kids to enjoy together, such as nature walks, storytelling, card games, cookery classes and arts and crafts, followed by a meditation before bed.

Day two includes spa treatments for the grandparents and grandchildren to enjoy together. Options include a foot soak and massage, a manicure-pedicure, head massages, as well as head and shoulder massages.

Grandparents can also opt for extra spa treatments each day for an additional fee.

According to Zulal, the range of activities offered on this retreat has been selected to promote connection through learning and enjoyment for all participants, regardless of age.

Sessions for early years and small children concentrate on creative play, sensing and discovering the world, while older kids and teenagers can choose from a more structured schedule featuring cognitive activities, imaginative ideas, music, meditation and sports to expand their horizons.

Fostering a sense of connection
Zulal general manager Heinrich Morio said: “With this new retreat, we focus on bonding, fulfilment and enrichment to encourage the kids and their grandparents to spend precious time together in a peaceful, safe environment.

“We expect the trend in family wellness holidays to continue and we’ll continue to adapt our family wellness offerings to ensure guests leave Zulal refreshed and reconnected.”

Available as a two- or three-night retreat, the starting price for the experience is QAR 3,785 (US$ 1,040, £853, €976) for double occupancy.

This price includes three wellness cuisine meals per day; a family health and wellness consultation, complimentary daily activities, family fitness sessions and family wellness activities, age-appropriate spa treatments, full access to the resort’s hydrothermal suite for the adults, and a complimentary in-room wellness minibar.
