Destination wellness resort operator Jayasom has revealed plans to deliver an integrative multigenerational health resort for Amaala – a vast mixed-use tourism destination in Saudi Arabia being developed by Red Sea Global (RSG).

Billed as the first global integrated family wellness destination, Amaala is underpinned by the principles of sustainability and regenerative hospitality. The development will be powered entirely by renewable energy and offer ‘curated transformative personal journeys’ inspired by arts, wellness and the Red Sea. When complete, the 4,155sq km site will have eight resorts, 200 residential units and a marina.

The upcoming Jayasom Wellness Resort, Amaala will be situated in Triple Bay – the giga-project’s first notable opening – which is scheduled for completion in 2024. It is one of three high-profile developments that make up Amaala, which is being dubbed the new ‘riviera of the Middle East’.

“Health is a key motivator for travellers today and we’re honoured to be leading the way on this ambitious project in partnership with RSG,” commented Karen Campbell, CEO and co-founder of Jayasom.

“Our partnership with Amaala is built on shared values of sustainability leadership and community responsibility, and we’re proud to bring our sector expertise to this project driven by service excellence.”

Founded in 2014, Jayasom operates a resort in Ibiza, Spain, and has properties under development in Japan, India and China.

With a planned total of 153 keys and 24 branded residences, Jayasom Wellness will feature 7,000sq m of healing facilities dedicated to spa, holistic health, fitness, physiotherapy, nutrition and aesthetic beauty.

It will be complete with a family wellness offering plus an adults-only zone, as well as branded residences for sale which will provide access to a wellness community and the holistic wellness offerings of the resort.

Jayasom is the second wellness operator confirmed to be working with Amaala, after Clinique La Prairie's involvement was announced earlier this month.

Programming inspiration
Jayasom plans to deploy an all-encompassing approach to health and wellness at the Saudi resort and curate stays that draw together Western evidence-based practice, holistic remedies and local wisdom.

Guest journeys will be delivered as retreat experiences by a team of seasoned therapists and staff, including medically certified specialists.

From tailor-made movement-based programmes to build strength and flexibility, to minimally invasive beauty procedures using the latest US FDA-approved technology, all programmes will be supported by nutrition and education on mindful consumption.

Innovation will also play a central part in the offering, with treatments based on real-time research and technology delivering a new standard in guest personalisation.

Wellness for all ages
In line with Jayasom’s multigenerational vision for the property, the resort’s spa is being designed with dedicated spaces for both families and adults only.

Upon arrival, guests will encounter a cocoon-type environment – neatly integrated within a horseshoe-shaped natural land formation – which will lead to separate entrances for adults and families.

Jayasom Wellness will also place a large emphasis on time for personal healing, with spaces dotted across the resort dedicated to contemplation, self-healing and self-discovery, as well as wellness trails, yoga pavilions and labyrinths.

John Pagano, Group CEO of RSG, added: “Jayasom Wellness will offer our guests a holistic sanctuary where they’ll be surrounded by the stunning natural landscape of the Red Sea coastline.

“We want visitors to truly appreciate the beauty of this unique destination while focusing on their transformative journey through the world-class wellness facilities on offer.”

About Jayasom
Jayasom is a luxury hospitality and wellness brand with a vision to create sanctuaries which inspire and reconnect guests with the ‘wisdom of wellness’.

Respect for local traditions is woven into each development, ensuring a connection to the environment as well as a focus on sustainability and connecting with and enriching the local community.

According to the group, staff are regarded as equal partners and nurturing talent is a central tenet in how it attracts and retains a team that is able and committed to inspiring wellness.

Back-of-house areas, staff housing and off-site academies are the starting point for each development, providing the community with access to a sustainable wellness lifestyle.
