Everyone Active awarded contract to run £10m centre
POSTED 03 Aug 2017 . BY Deven Pamben
Bromsgrove Sports and Leisure Centre will open in autumn
Everyone Active has been awarded a contract with Bromsgrove District Council to manage its leisure facilities across the district for the next 21 years, including a new £10m (US$13.2m, €11.2m) sports centre.

The announcement comes days after the leisure operator revealed that it had landed a deal to manage facilities in the London Borough of Barking and Dagenham.

The deal with Bromsgrove District Council in Worcestershire involves managing the Dolphin Centre from 1 September, and the Bromsgrove Sports and Leisure Centre, which is due to open in autumn.

The new centre will include a six-lane 25m pool with spectator gallery, a learner pool with moveable floor, a 100-station gym, three multi-purpose studios, spa with health and treatment rooms, sauna and steam room, and climbing facilities.

As part of the contract, all existing staff at the centres will be kept on by Everyone Active.

David Bibby, Everyone Active managing director, said: “Our new contract in Bromsgrove adds to our growing presence in the West Midlands area, with nearby contracts in Stratford and Warwick. As our fifth contract win this year, we are pleased to be working in partnership with the council to deliver improved leisure facilities across the district. We are confident our expansion into Bromsgrove will add tremendous value to the local community helping them to lead a more active lifestyle.”

Cllr Peter Whittaker, Bromsgrove District Council’s portfolio holder for leisure, added: “This council believes great, accessible opportunities for physical activity are vital for the community. We hope that through our new centre and this partnership with Everyone Active we’re providing these for even more people, on a sound and sustainable basis, for many years to come.”
