Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau has followed up on a viral video exchange between the Obamas, the Queen and Prince Harry by promising to “bring it” at the upcoming Invictus Games.
Trudeau, who was elected Canadian PM in November, addressed the global leaders surrounded by members of the Canadian team, who will take part in the event in Orlando, Florida this weekend.
Acting in response to the Queen and Prince Harry’s video in which the pair laughed off the Obama's challenge and told them to “bring it”, Trudeau joined two team members in push-ups before doing a pretend mic drop and shouting “BOOM!” in reference to the US President's famous sign-off.
The light-hearted exchange comes days before the Games – a five day tournament starting on 8 May at the ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex – which will feature 15 teams from around the world competing in ten different disciplines. The Paralympic-style event was created by Prince Harry and features teams of wounded, injured or sick armed services personnel taking part in sports including archery, indoor rowing, powerlifting, road cycling, sitting volleyball, swimming, athletics, wheelchair basketball, rugby and tennis.
The next event in 2017 is set to be larger than the previous two events, with 600 competitors across 16 countries, competing in 12 different sports when the games go to Toronto, Canada.
