Rainforest Spa for Jalousie Plantation
POSTED 18 Aug 2010 . BY Sarah Todd
A Rainforest Spa is to open at the Jalousie Plantation Sugar Beach on the Caribbean island of St Lucia in October 2010.

Situated at the base of the World Heritage-listed Petit Piton, the US$2m (1.57m euro, £1.32m) spa will feature six treehouse treatment gazebos tucked into the rainforest.

Blending St Lucian culture as well as a strong Caribbean aesthetic with contemporary elements, other facilities at the spa will include a wet treatment room with manicure and pedicure facilities, a beauty salon and an earthen steamroom, a Temascal, warmed by volcanic spring water.

Designed by Lane Pettigrew of LPA International, Inc in collaboration with the owner of the Jalousie Plantation, Roger Myers, the central focus of the spa will be an open-air relaxation gazebo suspended over running water at the base of the Petit Piton. The owners are still in the process of selecting suppliers for the spa products and are anticipated to have a strong emphasis on organic and natural elements.

In June 2010, Julia Leone was appointed as the Plantation's new director of health and wellness and brings more than 30 years of spa experience to her new role.
