Dalesauna's touch of the eccentric
10 Jun 2008 . BY
 /
The spa at Ardencote Manor is set to benefit from a touch of English eccentricity thanks to Dalesauna.

Part of a wider project to enhance the hotel's offer, the company has unveiled a series of heat experiences designed around the theme of the English Formal Garden.

Explaining the rationale behind the new installation, Dale Huckerby, Director at Ardencote Manor said: "We wanted to play to the strengths of the hotel and stay away from the more popular Thai or Moorish themed designs.

"Dalesauna’s theme of the English Formal Garden does just that by complementing the hotel's traditional look and feel."

The customer journey starts in the Aromatherapy and Saunarium experiences, moving towards the warmer rooms with the final experience being the Herbal Sauna, which will be infused with herbs from the hotel's own garden.

The heat experience rooms are all loosely inspired by the seasonal changes in the gardening calendar and the changes in temperature within each will change very subtly in a move designed to reflect the temperate nature of the English climate.

Bespoke features throughout the spa will include glass doors into each room, with images of trees whose foliage varies depending on the time of year and portrayed from skeletal to full leaf. There is also a quirky garden shed.

Lynn Russell-Hanson, Interior Designer at Dalesauna said: "The project offered the opportunity to include English eccentricity in the design without stepping over into a literal interpretation of an English garden and creating a theme park atmosphere."

Set in 82 acres of landscaped grounds, the 4-star hotel and country club offers a wide range of leisure facilities. The new heat experiences are in addition to new treatments rooms as well as six dedicated bedrooms to cater for the company's growing day spa market.
