Wellness is a crucial element of eco-resort operation
– Steph Curtis-Raleigh |
Hospitality industry event Eco Resort Network is set to take place at the Ravenala Attitude Hotel, Turtle Bay, Mauritius, from 18-22 May 2024.
Established in 2019, the event provides a platform for like-minded individuals to exchange insights, address challenges and showcase innovative solutions in sustainable resort management and development.
With an emphasis on fostering authentic experiences rooted in their surroundings, the event attracts hoteliers, suppliers, sustainability specialists, consultants, architects and investors.
Organisers anticipate a diverse turnout of attendees, with a large proportion of delegates and speakers hailing from Africa and the local community. The team says this will help focus the event's attention on investment and development in the continent and provide a platform to showcase its most exciting projects.
This year, attendance is limited to 60-70 delegates to facilitate meaningful interactions and discussions.
The programme involves a two-day conference schedule featuring keynotes, networking dinners and receptions, in addition to excursions to local resorts under construction. For 2024, the schedule has been elevated with early morning wellness sessions guided by specialist practitioners so attendees can get their day off to the right start.
Steph Curtis-Raleigh, event organiser, explained to Spa Business that wellness will be top of the agenda at the 2024 conference:
“Wellness is a crucial element of eco-resort operation as it feeds into the transformative element that operators seek to deliver to guests.
“However, operators are often keen to find wellness offers that are authentic rather than just generic and reflect a sense of place. Our event tries to look at how we can deliver these experiences and think about the wellness offering in a new way.”
Speakers slated to headline the 2024 event include renowned architects, sustainability pioneers, wellness consultants, and industry innovators. So far, the line-up includes:
• Caragh Curran – managing partner, Sustainable Tourism Consultants. • Juliette Deloustal – sustainability manager, Attitude Hotels. • Luca Franco – founder, Luxury Frontiers • Channing Henry – managing director, PKF Hospitality. • Noelle Honsy - co-founder, ENVI Lodges. • Yannick Littoux – business development, ANTHENEA Suite Hôtelière Flottante. • Kinga Monica – founder, Earthvoice. • Mike Munt – creative director, Apogii • Marc Myers – hospitality director, EXTREME I Sustainable Tourism. • Brendan O’Molony – founder, Tenthouse Structures. • Ana Ramirez co-founder, Ancestral Handmade Hotels. • Michael Sagild – founder, Cloud Collective. • Louis Thompson – founder, Nomadic Resorts. • Robyn Woodhead – co-founder, White Desert Antarctica.
