Work is due to start of Canada's second Ice Hotel after its successful launch last year. More than 11,000 tonnes of snow and 350 tonnes will be used to construct the 31-bedroom hotel accomodating up to 76 people. Other facilites will include two art galleries, an Absolut Ice bar, a cinema, spa, driving range, skating rink and wedding chapel. The award-winning Ice Hotel Quebec-Canada was a resounding success attracting around 40,000 visitors from all over the world. This year's creation will be two and half times larger to cater for increased demand. The hotel wll be located at the Duchesnay Ecotourism Station and its season will run from January 1st 2002 until the end of March. As well as one night in the hotel, guests will be able to take advantage of such winter activities as skiiing, snow-mobiling, dog-sledding and ice fishing. 'There's no doubt, it is the peak winter experience,' said Francis Léonard of the Ice Hotel. Building work will begin in early December.
